About / Leqad

CAD guidance, right where you design.

Leqad is an independent browser-extension prototype exploring contextual CAD lessons, starting with Onshape. The goal is to help learners understand their modeling decisions as they practice.

Guided CAD practice

Start with a rectangle.

Try an eight-step exercise: choose a plane, draw and dimension a rectangle, then preview a 3D extrusion.

How it works

Practice, hints, and the reasoning behind each step.

A first-sketch walkthrough makes the modeling decisions visible, one step at a time.

  1. Follow guided steps

Practice a guided first-sketch exercise, one modeling action at a time.

  2. Get hints when stuck

Reveal a hint or highlight a supported tool when you need a pointer.

  3. Understand the reasoning

Learn why reference planes, dimensions, constraints, and modeling choices matter.

Product status

An early prototype, with a focused next step.

What exists today

An early browser-extension learning-assistant prototype targets Onshape. The website demo is a separate eight-step simulation of sketching and extrusion, including the preview shown above.

The simulation offers guided first-sketch practice, contextual hints, tool highlighting, and explanations for key modeling decisions.

What remains unverified

Live Onshape compatibility remains unverified. The extension does not verify CAD geometry, and the website demo is not connected to a live CAD document.

Generalized design understanding and learning improvements from real user studies have not been demonstrated.

What is planned

Expanded exercises, improved feedback and contextual learning, and educator evaluations are planned. Delivery depends on technical validation and feedback.

Broader technical capabilities, including help with troubleshooting and reasoning about designs, are a longer-term goal.

Where Leqad started

Leqad grew from challenges encountered while learning and teaching CAD. Its founder has experience in high-school robotics and leads and helps train newer robotics students.

The mission is to make technical learning more approachable and effective, so students understand what they build and become more independent with engineering tools.
